CARRICK HOPES FOR ROVERS REPEAT
Michael Carrick will try to draw inspiration from a previous home match against Blackburn Rovers when the Reds step out at Old Trafford on Saturday.

The midfielder was one of four United men to score in the March 2007 meeting, after the visitors had taken a shock half-time lead through Matt Derbyshire.
Michael reminisced to Red View, “It’s one of those games that sticks out. We went 1-0 down but we came back well and went on to win the league. That was my first season at United and my goal was one of my first for the club. It’s a nice memory.”
The 4-1 win was regarded as a pivotal result in the 2006/07 title race, and Carrick feels the Reds could use a similar fillip now, albeit at a much earlier stage of the Barclays Premier League season.
“Whenever we lose, especially to a rival club like Liverpool, it’s highlighted,” he said.
“But we bounced back in the Carling Cup on Tuesday night – I thought the lads played very well – and we want to carry that on now and get back to winning ways in the league. It would be great to go on a run now and accumulate a lot of points, just as we’ve done in the past after losing a game.”
United have beaten Blackburn at home in all of Carrick’s campaigns with the Reds so far, most recently in February. “I know we edged it in the end (2-1) but they gave us a pretty tough game. We’ll be expecting another one on Saturday.”
