Manchester United bans players’ social networking profiles

Manchester United have taken a hard line against the use of social networking sites by banning players to maintain profiles on any social networking website

A statement on manutd.com read:

Player websites warning

The club wishes to make it clear that no Manchester United players maintain personal profiles on social networking websites.

Fans encountering any web pages purporting to be written by United players should treat them with extreme scepticism.

Any official news relating to Manchester United or its players will be communicated via ManUtd.com.

I was pretty interested in the outcome and saw Ryan Giggs’ twitter profile @Ryan_Giggs suspended

Twitter & Facebook have been used by many players to communicate with their fans. Recently Ryan Babel told his followers that he was dropped out of team

Darren Bent issued an apology to his fans after their side’s drubbing by league Leaders Chelsea

Fromer United player, Cristiano Ronaldo (@C_Ronaldo) also uses twitter to communicate with his fans
