Manchester United thrash Portsmouth 5-0

Defending Champions Manchester United thrashed Portsmouth 5-0 to top the table

Wayne Rooney was once again instrumental in United’s victory as he met a Darren Fletcher cross to open the scoring.

A couple of own goals followed and then Dimitar Berbatov was at hand to make the score 4-0

The visiting team’s misery continued as Mark Wilson thumped a volley in the back of his own net while trying to clear a cross
