Palacios suffers rib injury

Tottenham midfielder Wilson Palacios was taken to hospital after suffering a rib injury at the end of his side’s 2-2 draw away at Everton on Sunday.

The 25-year told was hurt when he was fouled by Tony Hibbert, which resulted in a penalty that Jermain Defoe missed.

He was released from hospital on Sunday and will be assessed by club medical staff ahead of next week’s Wolves game.

“He is a tough lad so it can’t be good that he’s struggling… hopefully he’ll be OK,” said Spurs boss Harry Redknapp.

“They took him to hospital in a lot of pain.”

Palacios has been a key figure for Spurs since arriving in a £12m deal from Wigan in January.

The Honduran international has made 25 league starts in central midfield, acting as the defensive foil to either Jermaine Jenas or Tom Huddlestone.

Palacios is also set to feature in next summer’s World Cup, Honduras having been drawn alongside Spain, Switzerland and Chile after qualifying for only the second time.
